Kristian Kassow, CEO and Co-Owner of Kassow Robots, received the Smart Production Innovation Award for the ‘Edge Edition’ at the ZVEI Digital Conference in Frankfurt am Main this week. The new product from the Copenhagen-based cobot manufacturer made it onto the shortlist of the competition organised by VDE Verlag and then received the most votes in an online vote. With the Edge Edition, Kassow Robots reduced the volume of the external controller normally required for cobots by 90% and miniaturised it so that it could be integrated into the cobot base.
Edge Edition simplifies cobot-AMR-AGV solutions
We are proud of 1st place. The Edge Edition simplifies the combination of a cobot and a mobile robot. It is ideal for all applications in which products need to be transported automatically and independently from A to B within production site. The fact that our cobots are particularly manoeuvrable as 7-axis robots further increases competitiveness and efficiency for industrial companies, says Kristian Kassow.
He refers to the fact that all lightweight robots from his company, which has been part of Bosch Rexroth since 2022, can also‘r each around corners and operate on a very small footprint thanks to the 7-axis.
DC connection enables connection to batteries of mobile robots
‘Thanks to the DC connection, the cobot can even be connected directly to the batteries of mobile robots - that means another plus in the direction of ‘simple automation’ with cobot AGV/AMR solutions, adds Kristian Kassow.
The Smart Production Innovation Award (previously the Industry 4.0 Innovation Award) was presented for the 9th time in 2024 by VDE VERLAG and its trade media Openautomation, etz elektrotechnik & automation and the Digital Factory Journal in cooperation with ZVEI e.V. and the Standardisation Council Industry 4.0.
In addition to Kassow Robots (1st place), Weidmüller Germany (2nd place) and Panduit (3rd place) were also among the winners.
