At this year’s EMO Hannover 2023 (Sept 18-23, 2023), Kassow Robots (Hall 9, Stand A54) is presenting a compact CNC cobot cell from one of its German partners, IBK IngenieurConsult GmbH. We talked about it with our colleague and Sales Manager, Christian Lorenscheit.
What are you showing at EMO 2023?
Christian Lorenscheit: We’re presenting a solution from one of our German partners. IBK wants to simplify the entry into robotics for small and medium-sized companies by focusing here on essential technical requirements that are sufficient for many SMEs. At the same time, thanks in large part to our 7-axis KR cobots, the solution provides the greatest flexibility in the smallest spaces.
What sets this compact solution apart?
The basic model in the solution from IBK consists of a KR cobot which is mounted on a cobot cart specially made by IBK and is complemented with compartments for unfinished and finished parts.
The goal was to provide a complete solution that is, at the bottom line, made affordable even for smaller players. How? By leaving out features that aren’t absolutely necessary for them—but that also uses top-quality products! After the initial set-up of the interfaces to the machine tool and the safety technology, the company can decide whether to install the parts by hand or using the robot, depending on the task.
What if a medium-sized company buys this solution but then wants to upgrade it?
Additional features can always be purchased, of course. I’ll give you three examples: the addition of an automatic opening mechanism for the door of the CNC machine or the addition of a camera for object recognition and quality control; another example could be the conversion of a manual clamping device to an automatic one. And beyond these, there are many further options!
